OCTOBER

Lakeshore Legal Aid, October 1 at 11:30 a.m. You will NEED to make an appointment by calling 810-765-3523 and speak to Merri or Dawn. Space is limited so please call today.

Blessing Boxes Collection Starts: The annual Blessing Box initiative starts early this year, with item collections from October 1-31 and nominations for seniors. Distribution is scheduled the week before Thanksgiving. Donations of personal care products, warm socks, and blankets are accepted at the center or designated local drop-off points. For inquiries or nominations, contact Merri at 810-765-3523.

Powerful Tools for Caregivers with AgeWays on October 4, October 11, October 25, November 1, November 8 and November 15 at 10:30 a.m. To sign up to reserve your spot, please call 833-262-2300 or email: wellnessprograms@ageways.org.

Haunted Tour of the Blue Water Area on October 7 at 10:00 a.m. Tickets are $20 per person and make sure to secure your spot early as seats are limited. Get ready to roam through spooky sites, both indoors and outdoors, so dress the part for our haunting expedition.

Sharkar Farms Backyard Mobile Farmers Market will be here on October 8 at 10:00 a.m.

Snacks & Facts on Columbia, South America on October 11 at 10:30 a.m. This program sells out super fast, so make sure to call today to get your name on our list, your spot is not reserved until payment is received. Annual Senior Health Fair on October 18 from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon. This year’s event will look a little different as all four centers will be hosting their own programs. This will allow us to add a more “hometown” feel and help you connect to the providers and services that are right in your back yard. Make sure to mark your calendars and grab a friend. NOVEMBER

Elf Program Ordering Open November 1 - December 1. They're back! This year's package includes an ornament, personalized card and many more of your Christmas favorites. You can sign your loved one up between November 1st and December 1st this year by calling 810-765-3523 and asking for Merri. Seniors must live within the WLC's service are (Downriver) to sign up. Packages are $15 a piece and can be paid for by check or cash. If you do not know of a senior in need of Christmas Cheer but would still like to help spread some, you can make a monetary donation and we will Elf a local senior in need for you. Donations can be dropped off or mailed to: Washington Life Center Elf Program, 403 N. Mary Street, Marine City, MI 48039. Make checks payable to: Council on Aging.

Field of Honor starting November 1 at 8:30 a.m. Support our initiative to adorn our field of honor by purchasing a flag in remembrance of a loved one who has served our nation. Each flag will be personalized with your loved one's name and prominently displayed in front of our establishment throughout the week of November 11, commemorating Veterans Day. All proceeds will be contributed to our Veterans Club, aiding them in providing assistance to local veterans. Each flag is $3.

Healthy Holidays with MSU on November 7 at 10:15 a.m. Learn tips and tricks to manage holiday stress and bring back the JOY!

A Matter of Balance Class with McLaren Macomb on November 7, November 14 and November 21 at 12:00 noon. This is an award winning program designed to manage falls and increase activity levels. Classes are held once a week for 8 weeks for 2 hours each. The program is FREE. Call 586- 493-2806 for more information.

Sister's Act Out on November 8 at 6:30 p.m. A one-night event. Tickets are $25 each. Refreshments and desserts will be available for purchase, with all proceeds benefiting the Michigan Parkinson's Foundation and the Washington Life Center.
